No. The standard kind has far too much sugar in it than is good for you. And you don't notice because the fizziness masks the sweetness.
Too much sugar and other carbohydrates eventually leads to type 2 diabetes, where your pancreas that makes insulin to control the level of blood sugar just gets overworked and gives up. That can lead to all kinds of consequences, such as blindness, and bad blood flow to the legs - people have had amputations because of this.
There are also diet kinds that use other sweeteners instead with almost no calories, but then it's just flavoured fizzy water and it's neither good nor bad for you. I'm used to the taste of those now and to having no sugar in coffee and tea. It's amazing how quickly I got used to not taking sugar in hot drinks, I like being actually able to taste the coffee or tea, and when I accidentally bought a bottle of non-diet cola, UGH! It tasted far too sweet.
Artificial sweeteners used to be horrible but there are some really good ones now that get used in Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Pepsi Max and so on. So I say, go for those.
