How to edit PDF documents?

you can't. in most cases, a PDF is just a picture of text (or just a picture), and not editable.
if you made it in Word, it may be editable, but you still need something like Adobe Acrobat, which is like $200. better to just retype it, or keep a copy in Word format when you make your PDF.

You need the full Adobe package that will allow you to create and extract documents for PDF inclusion. You take out the document, edit it, and put it back in using the Adobe software. HINT: The PDF reader is free. The PDF writer is decidedly NOT free.

For the most part PDF documents cannot be 'edited.' The whole idea behind Portable Document Format is the document cannot be edited by the end user or anyone else. It was created to be independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems.
That said, you can highlight and copy the text out of many PDF documents and paste them into a word processing program such as Word. This is only SOME PDF's and not all.

the point is, PDF is for Sealing a copy of the document so it cant be altered. However you can reverse engineer it back to a word document(or other format) and provided that is what was used as the original source you should get a pretty good likeness conversion. The only legitimate change you are allowed to make is adding signatures or allowing areas of the document to have notes added. If you own a Full copy of Adobe Acrobat, thatat application does have full editing facilities provided the content is not copyrighted.
