    Inventing sports, Football, Cricket, rugby, etc etc , introducing them to other countries and then losing to those countires. Inventing girls sports (netball, rounders, hockey) and exporting them to USA.

      Yes , I accept that sports sort of evolved rather than were invented but until there were formal and uniform rules they were not really the sports we know today. It was a light hearted comment rather than a history lesson.

      The earliest known shops were opened in the 1860s, in London by Joseph Malin and in Mossley, Lancashire, by John Lees. However, fried fish, as well as chips, had existed independently for at least fifty years, so the possibility that they had been combined at an earlier time cannot be ruled out.
