Is it hard to get hired when you're fat?

Do employers think you're lazy and unmotivated because your fat and think about how you'll fit into the uniform?

Asking for a friend...

  • Depends on the job and depends on how fat. In theory it would be wrong to discriminate based on weight, but if you can't fit through the aisles of a store or warehouse or if you don't have the stamina to do a physical job - there's a damn good chance you won't get that job. As for non-physical work, I think an overweight person is on a level playing field with a typical anyone (I do think attractive people have a leg up - but that has nothing to do with weight). I've seen no issues in my workplace or any others - as long as you are good at what you do, it will not matter.

Asking for a friend is generally understood to mean asking for ME but covering my embarrassment.

It shouldn't be a problem, but being fat probably doesn't help. Fat people may not look so good if your job involves facing customers.

NO - there are LOTS of places that do not require you to wear a uniform.
