Name Empires founded not by conquest, but division, the individual Empires and the groupings thereof?
Most famous example is the Byzantine, followed closely by Alexander the Great's/Selueccid/Cleopatra, then the Four Khanates of Genghis Khan, Holy Roman Empire, I don't know if Attila's son's were able to keep their portions of His Holdings,,,,,,,,,

The Four Caliphates of the Abbasid era (due to loss, "division", of the territory owned by the Abbasid Caliphate)
There was also some division of the Ottoman Empire into satellite Empires or "Caliphates"
The Chinese Empire sometimes fractured into multiple empires.
