A 43 years old Flight Attendant died from measles. Who dies from measles these days? Could her immune system be too weak?

She died because she got one of the rarer complications of measles--encephalitis-or infection of the brain (you can get this from chicken pox, west nile---any virus) and went into a coma, (There is no cure for a virus). which can occur with any virus, but rare. She WAS vaccinated but with the one step vaccine from a few decades ago, which has been updated to a two step vaccine dose.

Some folk have not had the vaccine due to false information scares. The disease was almost completely wiped out but now it's coming back due to this scare mongering

Her parents refused to vaccinate.

A bad case of the measles can certainly be life-threatening. That's why the vaccine was developed. People aren't dying of the measles in large numbers these days precisely because the vaccine exists.

Measles has NOT been eradicated yet, even from advanced countries like yhose in North America and Western Europe. The only reason few people die from it in those countries is the generally high level of protection given by the MMR vaccine.
Unfortunately, the deliberate lies about the vaccine spread by Andrew Wakefield (a disgraced adn struck-off former doctor) are still being spread by the tiny, vociferous but toally ill-informed anti-vaccination faction have resulted in too many parents failing to get their children vaccinated.
EVERY young adult should get themselves vaccinated or revaccinated against these so-called 'childhood' illnesses to give them protection for the rest of their life. This is doubly important for those (like flight attendants) who travel about the world for a job and come into close contact with people form all sorts of countries where diseases may be rife.

Its a virus. Like most viruses, there is no treatment . That's why the vaccine was developed. It prevented a lot of deaths.
