Why is it (approximately) socially acceptable to pee in the pool, but not in a bush?

Be real, at least 3 in 10 people pee in pools according to science.

When you pee in the pool, others literally are being touched by your pee, and might even swallow it.

When you pee in a bush, the worst that could happen is someone steps in it, it is impossible for them to accidentally swallow it. Yet, this is illegal and frowned upon.

To properly pee in the bush you should wear something similar to a soda can over your penis, so it looks as if you're emptying the can.

For women ? I got no idea.

When my kid went to Scout camp, he reported that they had added some chemical to the pool water that made it turn bright green around anybody to peed in there. That was to embarrass anybody who thought it was acceptable.

When you pee in the pool you're generally doing it inside your bathing suit so no one sees your anatomy. Peeing outside of water usually means you're performing some kind of public indecency by exposing your genitals.

Just by the way, people, the word is 'discreet'. 'Discrete' is a totally different word.

To me, it's more socially acceptable to pee in a bush by yourself than in a pool with other people..

There is no official rule which dictates it is socially acceptable to pee in a pool, it would be deemed more acceptable to pee in the bush as this can usually be done discretely and is less likely to draw attention to what is happening. You might want to go back and check the source of your scientific evidence.

Some people won't even notice that peeing in the pool is socially acceptable because the pool's big and disinfected with chlorine. The reason commando urinating is not accepted as much in the bush is that people would start sniffing and realizing what stinks out there.

It is not acceptable to pee in a pool and some pools contain chemicals that colour the water when someone does. It acts as a deterrent.

It is perfectly acceptable to pee in a bush if you are discrete. At Australian barbecues, the accepted place for men to pee is under the lemon tree.

I guess most people shy away from lemonade stands in the front yard...
