A distillation rig can do two things. First, it can separate mixed liquids of varying boiling pointe into their discrete parts. Since alcohol boils at 160°, and water at 212° F, heating a still to 165° will separate the alcohol from the water constituents.

Stills are also used to separate essential oils from base organics. Live steam from the still will leach out the essential oils from the plants, yielding both these oils and water. A separator is then used to drain the water from under the oils, leaving pure essential oils.

A common example is separating ethanol from water, because ethanol will boil off and rise as a vapor at a lower temperature than water. Best example for distillation is distillation of crude oil to produce numerous products like Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Petroleum, Diesel, Kerosene, Jet Fuels and Bitumen.

What is “destillation”? If you mean distillation then spirits are one of the results of distillation - rum, brandy, gin, vodka, whiskey...
