John Coltrane or Beethoven what do you prefer and why.?

    They are two of the greatest in their periods and in their genres but they are both at the highest levels in their own genres.

    John Coltrane. I can identify more with his modern musical form.

    Beethoven because I'm not a Jazz fan.

      Jazz is way better than classical in my opinion. Because you can do a lot of improv

    Do I have to state a preference . . . certain moments ask for one or the other . . . but generally speaking, I probably listen to Coltrane more often, seeing as he embodies the tenor of my time, this living moment . . . that funky gospel mode tinged with improvisational jazz genius . . . Beethoven is kind of the apex of the Western classical tradition (Dramatic with a capital "D") before modernism became wholly influential.
