Why does hotel free wifi not connect to a video game console?

free wifi at a hotel works just fine on my phone or computer, but when connecting to a ps4, xbox or switch, it won't connect.

Is their a reason for it?

Since it's free wifi, I kind of figured it would but nope.

Not made to, it connects to their router and then to the internet.

Does the Hotel have a pay wall or what's called a 'Capture Portal' when you 1st connect? It may be that the console can't load the capture portal and accept the license agreement.

Try seeing if the Hotel has a hard wire connection in the room - some do.

Some hotels prohibit gaming consuls as it takes up too much bandwidth. You can test this out by hooking up a laptop as the bandwidth will be limited to stuff like, surfing the net and youtube. More expensive places tend to not restrict/limit the internet.
