Give them sex education on how to respect girls. Negligent parenting shouldn't be accepted.

Both sexes of all ages can be raped. Not just women by men. The only way to reduce rape is with children. Stop teaching little girls they are better than boys, but need to look pretty, but not too pretty or boys will hurt them. Stop teaching little boys that their needs don't matter, to hide their feelings and girls come first.

We need to advocate for children. Teach kids to respect each other, and express how they feel. Letting girls go first is not respect. All that does is teaches boys they are second and not important. Telling boys not to cry does the same thing. When boys are constantly told they come second to girls, they grow up to resent women. If we start teaching boys they matter too, maybe they'll respect women more.

    "How can we reduce rape?"

Rape is a crime of opportunity.  And we can all learn specific ways to lessen the opportunity for a criminal rapist to succeed in the same manner that we learn ways to lessen the chances of any opportunity-based crime.

For some reason, today's feminists get a foul taste in their mouths when this reality is brought up.  They tend to think of criminal rapists as "men" and want to teach "men" (not criminal rapist) not to rape instead.  The flaw in this logic is paramount.  Firstly, a criminal rapist will NOT accept that message, and may even be titillated that the blame for his actions are smeared onto all men where he can comfortably hide.  Secondly, the loss of support from all the good men, most of them that will never rape in their lives, becomes weakened or lost as they are unfairly, collectively blame for it anyway.

The only other option is to go backwards and restrict women's freedoms in order to take care of them and minimize the opportunity for rape on their behalf like we used to.  Equity feminist Camille Paglia recalls a story from 1964 in college where she and all the other equity feminists at that time demanded equal freedoms to the men.  She demanded they be allowed to risk getting raped for that freedom.  This was the basis of "women's liberation" under the days where feminism was actually about equality rather than today's "feminism" which is strangely immersed in ultra-Leftist ideology and social engineering .... and NOT equality at all.

Today, feminists expect women to keep the freedom and autonomy they exchanged for safety ... by being allowed to risk getting raped ...but they demand that "men" and the whole society are responsible for them anyway no matter how they behave.  Feminists insist that women are not responsible for their personal actions here.  That is akin to giving children full agency and freedom to do whatever they like.  But as soon as they get into trouble through some of their bad choices and actions, the parents would be held to blame anyway.

You won't like this answer but -- more public spaces should be sex segregated. Assaults are usually crimes of opportunity.

We increased the number of rapes by increasing the number of activities that are CALLED rape.  If we narrowed the definition we would also reduce the number.  What is more is that we would not be spreading our resources so thinly giving us a better chance of success in controlling what we concentrate on.

Self defense classes for women for a start so they at least stand a fighting chance against a rapist

Secondly we try to find a way to spot a would be rapist and then firgure out a way to get the would be rapist to change their intent which unfortunately i think is impossible hence the need for self defense

Let's first understand what it takes for someone to commit rape, which let me remind you is a felony for good reasons. The person being raped doesn't consent.  What types of people commit the rape? Most people that have trauma will be more subjected to commit rape. So the victim becomes the offender. It's most likely to be someone close to the person. To reduce rape we must instill morals and have both parents in the household, promote this in a healthy manner.

Most likely be beating a dead horse though, so let's not get our hopes up. Face it people are animals.

I believe that the best strategy is to teach girls self defense. The class I took was very intense, we learned all sorts of things from awareness/avoidance to basic and last resort techniques. Our female instructor told us we are going to learn some brutal stuff, but we must not be squeamish, self defense is not a pretty thing. She also explained us some very important points: Girls cannot compete guys on strength but can be trained to excel in specific techniques designed to explore guys natural vulnerabilities. When fighting back in a serious situation you need to inflict an incapacitating injury, fast without warning. However, the methods must be taught properly but at the same time regularly exercised to become automatic when needed. For me and the other girls it was not a piece of cake to listen to detailed graphic descriptions of brutal techniques how to gouge eyes or how to destroy a rapist testicle or even to practice them on some anatomically correct props. Unfortunately, this is sugar-coated in many courses making them ineffective. She also stressed that this knowledge should not be misused and only to be applied in self defense situations.

We were told several stories when a potential victim fought off a bigger and stronger male attacker. In one case the assailant lost one of his balls thanks to a well executed technique also taught in my class called pick a plum. It starts with a tight grasp on one of his testicles, twist as much as possible and jerk hard using the whole momentum of the arm, and if possible, also the whole weight. This move can easily tear the spermatic cord and/or detach the epididymis from the testis causing immediate debilitating shock and is especially effective if the attacker has a loose scrotum sac. When done with both hands, each testicle in one hand, you can even castrate him. This would reduce rape in the future.
