What does it mean when it says it’s closed in the section of a receiver?

A package that got sent back to me says it’s closed in the receiver section. When I went to the post office and went to resend they didn’t let me as they pointed out that it says closed.

Not sure? could it mean that the time allowed to return it has expired?

I have no idea what you are talking about. You cannot resend a package in the same packaging with the same markings. You must remove all old postage, barcodes, anything that would interfere with tracking, pay for new postage, and send it out again - which is NOT the same thing as re-sending. I worked for USPS for 38 years and never heard of a package being 'closed'.
