Three cups. Twelve times two is 24, divided by 8 ounce cups is three.

12 oz is by weight for peanut butter, using the old a pint is a pound world round you would need 1.5 pints or 3 cups of peanut butter to double the recipe.

Persons under 13 yo should not be posting.

Double means to take the measurement and do it twice (double it)

    12 oz, means 24 oz.

Note: although some can use 75% instead of actually doubling, others do 125% (double and a half more) if their crowd is hungry. Better left overs than not enough.
