    Outside a sphere with uniform charge distribution (or any radially symmetric distribution), we can treat the sphere as a point mass.

    E = kQ / d²

    where k = 1/4πε₀ = 8.99e9N·m²/C²

    so here

    E = 8.99e9N·m²/C² * 17e-6C / (0.48m)² = 6.6e5 N/C
