What is the expression for this polynomial y = x^2 + 4x - 7 after being shifted to the right by 2.
Got this from a facebook group. The answer is y = x^2 - 11.

A shift of the axis 2 units to the right transforms
x to (x-2). y = x^2 +4x -7 = (x+2)^2 -11 becomes
y = x^2 -11.

y = x²+4x-7 shifted RIGHT by 2 units is
y₁ = (x-2)²+4(x-2)-7
y₁ = x²-4x+4 + 4x-8 - 7
y₁ = x²-11.............................ANS (see graphs below)

Using function notation, you have:
f(x) = x² + 4x - 7
To shift it 2 units to the right, solve for f(x - 2):
f(x - 2) = (x - 2)² + 4(x - 2) - 7
f(x - 2) = x² - 4x + 4 + 4x - 8 - 7
x's cancel out and leaves us with:
f(x - 2) = x² - 11

Hint: x --> x - a will shift the function a units.
Apply this principle to your question. What is "a" in your case? Hence the function becomes?
