Why are there many verses in the Bible which tell women to be silent and obedient?

It was a patriarchy. Jesus's pro-women message got obliterated when Saul of Tarsus murdered 120 disciples, faked an epiphany "on the road to Damascus" to report to the Exilarch, and changed his name to "Saint Paul" the False Apostle. Women used to sit around with Jesus and HE spoke with them.

Because sometimes men do not want to listen and the same goes the other way.

Talk to a married gal and most will agree but maybe they wish they could tell their husbands so not talk sometimes too and be silent.Perhaps that is why there is relief society so the gals can get relief from the men.   Trust me the Mormon gals get tired of making kids and would rather sew sometimes and visit with their friends.   They have some great sewing groups and arts and crafts classes that are a nice break from the household duties they need to do.  Smart Mormon guys will just work and let their wives have these aforementioned duties so they do not know too much and do not argue over decisions. If the guys are too tired then for love play then the gals just accept it because they are tired from scrubbing floors.  Really really smart guys will just have one car in the family so finances are reduced and the kids do not get in trouble.

There just as many verses that say women are important. “Listen, my son, to the discipline of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother.”—Proverbs 1:8.

All religions have such verses to discipline women because if women are right the all community is guided.

We live under the New Covenant in which GOD SAID

"...for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man" (Jeremiah 31:22).

"...and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy" (Joel 2:28; Acts 2:17)!

If you believe otherwise, that comes from "private interpretations" from male chauvinist pigs who aren't "moved by the Holy Ghost" (II Peter 1:20-21).

That's what they get for being a male chauvinist pig (Galatians 3:28)!

You can "FORGET GOD" (Psalm 9:17) SAID Holy Spirit baptized (Acts 1:5;8) who have "joined to His Spirit" (I Cor 6:17) are "His children" (Rm 8:16).

"We are JEWS" (Rm 2:28-29) His children (Rm 8:16)

IF YOU LIKE BUT THERE IS HELL WAITING FOR YOU FOR "UNBELIEF" (REV 21:8)

These instructions were added by men in the very late first century and mostly in the second century - men like Tertullian - men among those nowadays called the Church Fathers. They are not the work of either Jesus or Paul. Why? Because the church wanted to conform to (and imitate) the general social structure of the Roman Empire, which was sexist and paternalistic.

Paul selected many women in leadership roles, see in particular Chapter 16 of Romans.

So how do you explain that we have still surviving copies of the writing of Paul that include these verse that were produced around 70 AD?  Did they somehow magically send these back in time if they were not authored until the 2nd century?  No, those statement were written by Paul.

It was about working together, communicating and cooperating with each other.  Proverbs 31 said that a capable wife had a value greater than that of corals, and that her children pronounce her blessed, and her husband praises her.

The way to maintain that kind of relationship is through honest and respectful communication with each other, and communication together with God through Jesus.  The Bible says that a threefold cord cannot be easily torn in two.  That means that like a cord is stronger when there are three twisted together rather than just two, the man and his wife are stronger in their relationship when God, the third cord, is there.

The Bible is all about control through manipulation. If they can subordinate half the entire population by just making their husbands deal with them, then that's easier on the government.

There aren't THAT many, although 1 is still too many.  At least it isn't a central theme in the Bible.
