The correct term is "Spanish Netherlands", the name for those parts of the Netherlands, Belgium and northern France that were ruled by the Spanish branch of the royal House of Habsburg from 1556 to 1714.

spain used to rule over at least some part of holland, a long time ago is what i've heard. maybe that's what you're talking about
