Is it true that Crohn’s disease is a lot worse the first year or two after diagnosis and then it gets easier to manage?

The diagnosis itself doesn't really affect any disease, it's about when it is diagnosed.  It should always be easier to manage after a diagnosis though, not because of the diagnosis itself, but because one can adjust one's diet.

I think you get used to it over time.  When I was in graduate school, I did a summer research project in St. Pete and my 23 year old roommate, who had recently been diagnosed with Chohn's disease, had to work on moderating his drinking because that messed with his body in a major way.
