Why was Morocco the first nation in the world to recognize the US as a sovereign country?

How and why Morocco?

Isn't this the original ancestral lands of the Moors?🤔

Update:

Moorish sovereigns believe their status as members of a sovereign nation imparts immunity from federal, state and local authorities. They use this perceived immunity to justify refusing to pay taxes, buy auto insurance, register their vehicles and to defraud banks and other lending institutions.

The Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah was keen on boosting Morocco's economy and he realized that being open to foreign trade and forming good relations with other countries, particularly the prosperous European/Western countries, was the best way to do this. It was really just his eagerness for success by association with other successful nations that led him to jump at the opportunity to form good ties with a new prominent world power in the Americas.
