I think it would take an act of Congress to do that. As long as McConnell is majority leader of the Senate, that is not going to happen . McConnell IS up for reelection this year. Its up to the voters of western Kentucky whether McConnell gets a 9th term as Senator. His Democratic opponent is wounded veteran.

The draft ended in 1973. I think we need required civilian service too, and the physically disabled who ate mentally able should be able serve. Lets bring back the WPA, which built the U.S. Hwy system, the railroads and the now aging electrical grid and the CCC back.

There's no need to drag people off to the Middle East or any other dangerous places. The government tried to do that in the 1960's during Vietnam, and it wrecked the country.

Eisenhower thought three should at least be universal service if not military then some other kind of service to the country.

He never said, he was very anti-military after WW2. He deemed it as a very last resort and would defund the military industrial complex by any chance possible.

Well, this has zilch to do with Yahoo Products or Abuse & Spam.

A modern professional military needs personnel who will stick around for more than 3-4 years, because modern gear requires at least 1-2 years of training, so you'd only get a year or so from just a moderately well trained soldier.
