Is it true that what we say to our selves determines how we feel a lot more then what happens externally?

If so how do I stop anxiety and pain when it happens since painful things do happen in life?

definitely. There's thousands of stories of vets with legs and arms blown off, that are leading happy, productive lives with families, others that commit suicide or that people growing up in poverty, with abuse, are fully functioning adults with happy lives, while others are still poor. Nobody can say exactly why one succeeds and one doesn't. but inner voices and self resolve is part of it.

Yes, what we think we become, I’ve had so many therapists tell me I need to think positive and that a lot of my problems come from negative self talk.
