What is the best reply to this interference ?

My mother in law warns me every time we meet not to wear certain colors because she thinks that will tease her and it is called imitating so she is crazy about shopping and wearing all colors and she wants me to wear dark colors only ?

We actually work at the same place and I want a decent way to stop this ****

Strike a deal with her. "I won't tell you what to wear and you don't tell me what to wear".

There's no rational way to respond to a nutty control freak. Just keep wearing the colors and tell her if she doesn't like it don't look at your clothes. What you wear doesn't affect her life. She's just trying to control you.

Tell her you will wear what looks best on you.

You can't stop crazy. Ignore it. Wear whatever colors you want.

Just ignore her and do whatever you want to do. She sounds a bit kooky.

Wear what you want and instruct her to do the same. If this is really your MIL's top concern at this moment she may be beyond reason.

Tell her you appreciate her input (politely and respectfully), without criticism of her choices for herself that differ. Then do your own thing. You don't have the power to control others, only yourself, thus there is no way to control how she judges you.
