Can putting too many files on your computer slow it down?
Files such as photos, PDFs, Word documents, etc.

It can do, so just buy some memory sticks.

Yes. Things that slow it down when there are more files:
o Media indexer. This is a third party shovelware that probably shipped with your computer. Its running slows things down.
o Search indexer. This is an indexer that makes Windows search faster. Windows 10 is smarter about this than some of the previous Windows, fortunately.
o Antivirus. Yup, its intercepting file accesses can slow things down.

If you store them on your desktop, yes because the whole desktop is loaded into memory. If you throw it into another place, no because the computer ignores the file until you call it up. The exception is when you overfill a drive. Your computer's performance takes a dump if you fail to leave about 15% free.

It can IF you add enough that the free space on your hard drive gets to be under 20 percent. Windows systems need at least 20 percent free space to operate correctly; the free space is used by programs and the OS as virtua memory while the programs are in use. If your free space is above that, then it shouldn't be a problem.
