The upper LOW over NC is a 'closed' LOW; not a 'cut-off' LOW misdiagnosed elsewhere.

Cut-off LOWs are 'cut off' from the flow.  The LOW over NC is not 'cut off' from the flow ... evidenced by the 22-MAY-20 500 mb analysis.

There is a cut off low that is spinning in the Carolinas, and it can't really move at this

time because of a blocking high thats just off the coast and one to the north up in

    Canada.

The low is just spinning around, causing long bouts of rain over large parts of the SE

    US.
