In World War 2 how and why were the Japanese and Germans allied?

    Hitler declared the Japanese and Chinese as "Ehrenarier"... honorary aryans due to their purity of race.

    During the war wasn't much cooperating going on... after Pearl Harbour Germany did declare war on the USA in support of their ally - and near the wars end among the last UBoat sorties were two submarines loaded down with secret technical data and a Jumo jet engine bound for Japan [one made it]

    The Japanese wanted to secure their base in the East and expand eastward.  The Germans wanted to secure their base in the West and expand westward.  Those two goals seemed compatible, and that's why an alliance was formed.

    They were fighting for themselves
