What’s it like joining the military reserve at 28?

I’ve been putting serious thought into joining the national Guard or a reserve of a different branch and just looking for anyone who has experience with this and what there experience was, I’m a paramedic in the civilian world but have always wanted to serve in the military I don’t think I could justify to myself giving my entire career up for an active duty contract but Instead looking at reserve. Is 28 realistically too old ?

No,it's not too old, but you'll be doing training with people 10 years younger than you are. You'll have supervisors almost that young. And you'll have to listen to "young kid" stuff during breaks and when you are quartered with your unit.
