You are talking about Sun sign astrology. This is not real astrology. It is just a commercial gimmick to make money off of readers who don't know any better.

Real astrology deals with 40 to 50 factors, and NOT just the Sun sign (often mis-called your "zodiac sign"). And no two people are astrologically identical. So, unlike racism, each person is seen as an individual in REAL astrology.

"Those that promote and profit from astrology only see green."

Talk about being judgmental like a racist.  What is this???  LMAO!!!

Those that promote and profit from astrology only see green. It doesn’t matter what the hardcore say. The vast majority of astrology believers DO think only sun signs and will group people. They want fast results and don’t care about "the whole chart".

Astrology and racism share many of the same ideas. For one thing, in both cases a person is being judged by factors beyond their control. Just as people have no control over their skin color, they also have no ability to determine when and where they were born.

Both astrology and racial stereotypes are based on a framework of belief that basically says: "Without even meeting you, I believe something about you. I can expect this particular sort of behavior or trait (stubbornness, laziness, arrogance, etc.) from members of this particular group of people (Jews, blacks, Aries, Pisces, etc.)."

When an astrologer finds out a person’s astrological sign, he or she will bring to that experience a pre-existing list of assumptions (prejudices) about that person’s behavior, personality and character. In both cases, the prejudices will cause people to seek out and confirm their expectations.

Racists will look for examples of characteristics and behaviors in the groups they dislike, and astrologers will look for the personality traits that they believe the person will exhibit. Since people have complex personalities (all of us are lazy some of the time, caring at other times, etc.), both racists and astrologers will find evidence confirming their beliefs.

Of course, astrologers are not racists. But the belief systems underlying both viewpoints are identical: prejudging individuals based on general beliefs about a group. If we do not assume that African-Americans are lazy, Arabs are terrorists, or Asians are scholastic geniuses, why would we assume that Cancers are emotional, Aries are born leaders, or Geminis are optimistic non-conformists?

People should be judged as unique, individual persons, not based on what arbitrary group they belong to. To paraphrase Martin Luther King, Jr., a person should be judged not by the color of their skin -- nor the date and time of their birth -- but by the content of their character.

Just curious if you ever use anything but buzz words so you don't have to think?  This is a rant of the Chain Lightning crew and it is simple minded "guilt by association."

    1) We discriminate all day every day, from the time we choose what to eat for breakfast until we pick the last TV show to watch. "Discrimination" by itself not only isn't bad, but actually necessary.  If you mean "racial discrimination" then it is just repeating the word "racist."  Therefore your question is redundant.2) Astrology does not group people into twelve signs.  Astrology delineates or reads unique charts.  There couldn't be anything less discriminatory than genuine astrology or more ignorant than this question. Is the MMPI discriminatory or like racism?

It's not racist, Astrological signs aren't races.

Discrimination - Treatment or consideration based on class or category, such as race or gender, rather than individual merit; partiality or prejudice.

If you're judging people based on nothing but Astrology then you're judging them on something they were born with and cannot change. If I said I didn't like someone because of their race, that's discrimination but what if I said I didn't like someone because of their sign? It doesn't make it racism but it still is discrimnation, people don't seem to understand that discrimnation isn't just racism
