Testament was the closest to be in the Big 5, with Exodus that would be Big 6.

But what I like to listen lately are two underrated bands, Diamond Head and Suicidal Tendencies.

Diamond Head were British who released their (now famous) "Lightning to the Nations" aka "White Album" (because of white sleeve) in 1980. That album influenced early Metallica, you may hear distant "Black Sabbath" but also similarities with "Kill Em All" (1983):

Suicidal Tendencies were also influential but their attitude to career and professionalism seemed to be in accordance with their name. Yet, they had two good albums, eponymous debut "Suicidal Tendencies " (1983) and "How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today " (1988)
