Why do Democrats keep nominating candidates who become renowned as terrible candidates (Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Biden [?])?

    What I don't understand is why Republicans wanted Trump again.  He's the least popular president of the modern era, so why would you go with such a terrible incumbent when a less terrible candidate could be found.

    I disagree of course. Gore won the popular vote. The Republican Supreme Court gave Bush the election. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by a big margin.  The electoral college was won by Trump. Biden is way ahead in the polls.  Dukakis messed up, and was the target of dirty politics by Lee Atwater, who later admitted his bad behavior when he was dying of cancer.  Dukakis was 17 points ahead in the polls after the convention. So.....

    Because Trump has done such a terrible job that we feel like we don't need to waste our time looking for anything better. Biden's leading by double digits in every major national poll, including the fake news FAUX poll.
