Do other coffee shops find it really hard to compete with starbucks in the summer?

Starbucks has frapacianos, anywhere other than San Fransisco in the continental United States can get super hot in the summer, how you gonna compete with frappacinos?

The local neighborhood coffee shop has iced green tea with free refills. I find that much more refreshing than a dairy beverage.

Most coffee shops around me serve some kind of chilled / iced coffee option; it's hardly unique to Starbucks

Not really. They have similar offerings.

Most other coffee shops sell a variety of cold and frozen drinks. They also charge less than Starbucks. That makes it fairly simple to compete.

All coffee shops sell frapacianos[sic] - it is not trademarked beverage (just the name) it just a coffee milkshake. Other shops can't compete because Starbucks saturates most areas with coffee shops when they arrive.

It is more a matter of whether a 'normal' coffee shop has a clientele that can afford $11 for a cup of coffee.
