First, they would plea for the U.N. and international community to intervene. When it fails, they would start an insurgency and use a guerrilla warfare against the U.S., since none of those countries can fight against the U.S. in the conventional warfare and drag the war out until the U.S. packs up and go home.

No country can win a conventional war against the United States.  Thus any country attacked by the US moves to non-conventional or asymmetric warfare.  The United States has shown an unwillingness to exert the brutality needed to win asymmetric warfare.

Put up some resistance - some more than others - and then fight a years long partisan war. There are almost no countries that could see off a US invasion - probably only Russia, China and maybe India. If it came to it the EU may be able to put together a united army, but it likely wouldn't be organised enough.

You can bet that if the US invaded a *friendly* country like that it would lead to a nuclear arms race. Brazil, Mexico, Australia and Egypt are all "nuclear capable" (along with other countries like Canada, Germany and Japan). Nuclear weapons would probably be seen as the only deterrent to a US invasion, so anyone who was able to would get nukes to tell the US to back off.

in australia's case, the continent is huge so occupying it would be hard and we have defence capabilities that would deter many countries
