What is wrong with my iMac?

My mac is annoyingly slow and it's been like this for a good while. It's Mojave 10.14.5 and I've only got 10GB left on it, could that be a factor (or that I have to update?)? I'm getting slow buffers, constant spinning wheels etc.

With today's power-hungry systems, 10GB of free space is unacceptable. You need to free up space. A lot. If you have nowhere else to put your files, try the iCloud.

Depends on how old it is, hardware etc. Seems you're low on resources. My advice: DO NOT update to Catalina (among many other things, it runs only 64 bit apps). Fortunately, it's running fine in my iMac, it took forever (almost a whole day -I had to call Apple -excellent support BTW) to update (it installs a completely new file system, and so many other essential changes...)

It may be time to get a new iMac. Best wishes. 🙂
