    The area of the shaded region (using 3.14 for pi):

    9 π - 4.5 π = 4.5 * 3.14 = 13.5 + 0.63 = 14.13 m^2

    The formula for the area of a circle is:

    A = πr²

    Step 1 - Find the area of the large circle

    r = 3

    A = π3² = 9π

    Step 2 - Find the area of *one* of the smaller (unshaded) circles

    r = 1.5

    a = π(1.5)² = 2.25π

    Step 3 - Subtract *two* of the smaller circles from the larger circle.

    9π - 2(2.25)π

    = 9π - 4.5π

    = (9 - 4.5)π

    = 4.5π

    Step 4 - Calculate the approximate area using the rational approximation of π ≈ 3.14

    4.5 * 3.14

    = 14.13 m²

    The area of the shaded region (using 3.14 for pi):

    9 π - 4.5 π = 4.5 * 3.14 = 13.5 + 0.63 = 14.13 m^2

    Area = πR² - 2πr² = π(R² - 2r²) = 3.14(3² - 2*(3/2)²) = 14.13 m^2

    Area=πR²-2πr²=π(R²-2r²)=π(6²-2*3²)=π(36-18)=18π

    Very easy
