Can a US Navy sub survive being hit by  torpedo or is it one and done?

If the hull is compromised the water pressure will crush the sub.

depends on what depth the sub was when hit, it might be able to make it to the surface

but if a torp explodes against a sub, that sub is finished.

But only one sub has ever been sunk by another sub using a torpedo

I would imagine it's survive-ability would depend on the area of impact as well as the depth it was operating at. IE: submerged vs on the surface.

They are small vessels relative to the size of the charge on a modern torpedo. And any impact at a substantial depth would most likely severely compromise the pressure hull, with catastrophic results.

Any submarine's best defense is stealth not armor.
