At the doctor office if your blood pressure is too high, is it good to wait 10 minutes before taking it again?

An accurate blood pressure reading should be the result of multiple readings. The reason for this is that the body was designed to take care of itself. When the initial blood pressure reading is taken, it compresses 2 arteries.
When the brain picks up on this, it believes that an obstruction has developed, so it increases the blood pressure to try and dislodge it. This is why the first reading should NEVER be accepted. Doctors who accept this first reading and then want to prescribe medications are frauds and should be avoided.
Multiple readings should be taken to get an accurate one. After a few times, the brain realizes that there is no blockage and the normal blood pressure resumes.
When consecutive readings show similar numbers, then this can be accepted as the actual reading.

You should always relax for 10 minutes before taking your blood pressure. You can't expect to get an accurate reading at the doctor's office.
