What if Portugal got involved in WWII on the Axis side?
What benefit could it have potentially served the other Axis powers and what would the outcome for Portugal been after the war?

WOULDN'T have happened. They had nothing to gain and a lot of colonial possessions to lose if they did. They also had a 500 year old alliance with England.

Portugal has been formally aligned with England since 1373. This alliance has survived the transition of England morphing into the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Portugal becoming a republic. The Portuguese were not about to turn their back on a 566 year old alliance to side with an enemy with whom they shared absolutely zero ideological similarities who never had a chance of winning.

It was small population with a small army. But if you talked a British Ally like Portugal to switch over to the dark side that easy, the main benefit would be the domino effect. If Portugal was axis, then Spain would be axis. And what other countries might fall into Axis? As it was, the main thing accomplished with Portugal staying Neutral was signing pacts with Spain to remain Neutral when Hitler and the world were expecting Spain to fight for Axis.
