How tough are Ivy League schools?

Question

A librarian in my university did his masters in religion at Yale and he told me his professors expected to him understand AND memorize 200 pages a day

At the age of 18 I was capable of memorizing that much that quickly

At my current age - it would take a lot of training to regain that ability

I studied at a different school 

People say Harvard uses grade inflation so even dumb students can get straight A’s

"... he told me his professors expected to him understand AND memorize 200 pages a day"   Understand 200 pages a day?  That is doable.  Memorize 200 pages a day?  You need to think more critically.  Memorizing 200 pages per day is impossible for all but a handful of humans.  He is kidding you, and you are kidding yourself.
