How do i know if im seeing 60 fps?

I recently saw my tv was 60 hz and a couple of people were telling me that im actually only seeing 30 fps instead?

How do i know that im actually seeing 60fps?

    Most TV programs are filmed in 30 fps in the US. Certain shows (typically ones filmed live) are in 60 fps.

    Unless you hooked your TV up to a computer/capture device with some kind of frame monitoring software I don't know if there's an easy way to see exactly what frame rate it's running.
