Anyone know how long it takes pasta to cook?

It depends on the type of pasta and its amount. You can cook an angel hair pasta in just 5 minutes.

It depends on the pasta and how tender you like it, pasta takes anywhere from 8 to 13 minutes to cook. Angle hair pasta takes a lot less time than penne pasta, for instance.
The instructions are on the package. I do not like mushy pasta, so I look at it and or taste it as not to overcook it.

Once pot is salted and water comes to a boil i time my timer to 9 minutes and that always works with whatever pasta i use.

You're suppose to wait until the water comes to a boil before putting in the pasta.
That prevents it from being a big lump.
Water at boil...insert pasta...7 minutes at least.
Depends on how you like it.
Boil for only 5 minutes will give you firm pasta. 10 minutes the pasta will be very soft.

The answer is on the Fing box- learn to read! 9-12 minutes in boiling water - test it at 9 and again every minute or two thereafter.

When you throw a piece or two at the wall and they stick - it's done.
