Does renters insurance cover the cost of theft from my truck?
Had my truck robbed and lots of valuables taken. Does renters insurance cover this?

Even, if you parked your truck inside your home it won't be covered/

Valuables off the premises are covered for a certain amount. How much was taken? Do not put in a claim unless the dollar amount is way over your deductible on the renters insurance.

Yes, but the policy limit on personal property away from the premises is less than the limit on the premises. If the value exceeds your deductible, go ahead and make a claim.

Your truck wasn't "robbed", it was burglarized. Your renter's insurance should cover it, subject to your deductible.

In the set-up of insurance, that is usually where the coverage would be rather than standard automobile policies. You should have a police report and a list of items stolen and their individual values with as much detail as possible.
Contact your agent of the renter's insurance and review the policy yourself.
Also, although theft with a deductible is an itemized tax write off, the 2017 tax reform works against you.

Renter's insurance typically covers your belongings whether they are in your home or your vehicle. You'll have to check on the specifics of the policy you purchased.
