Japan is very crowded. Tokyo is one of the largest cities in the world.

Depends on where you go. Tokyo is the most populous metropolitan area in the world, with some 37 million people calling that one city home, but there's areas of unspoilt wilderness as well. And the average income is higher than in the US, but there's still people in subsistence living circumstances, as well as billionaires at either end of the economic scale. Like most countries, its not all one thing or the other
