Why do people say that Medicare is affordable?

How much do you pay for Medicare with Medigap, or a different supplement, and prescription coverage?

Update:

"You're free to pay cash for your medical care if you think that's a more affordable alternative"     That was not my question.

Medicare premiums aren't allowed to increase (except an adjustment for inflation).

That makes it super cheap for older people whose premiums are frozen at the more reasonable price of health care from 10+ years ago, especially considering the amount of medical care they consume.

Someone has to pay the rest of those costs, so the price for new enrolees is not affordable.

A medicare advantage plan is often free or might include small co pay.- Excluding the standard Part B fee.

How much does someone pay that for a medicare supplement plan has nothing to do with what you would pay.

Do they have a basic Plan F?  Do you have an G-N plan?Where do you live, plays a part in it.Etc.

Medical care is expensive.  Especially for old people.

ETA:  Ok...let me say it in a way a simple person can understand.   People say it's affordable because it IS affordable compared to the alternative.
