Are you concerned about private information like tax returns being leaked?

If private medical or tax information was leaked to the press, which is illegal, then why isn't the crime ever prosecuted?

Because it's largely impossible to identify the actual leak.

In order to charge someone for leaking that information, the government needs to find out who leaked it.

The NY Times didn't leak it. Someone in the NY prosecutor's office leaked it. (this is assuming that the returns the times is reporting is actually true)

It does seem dubious, though Trump shot himself in the foot by calling it fake news. If he prosecutes the paper for revealing his tax records then he would be admitting that he lied and it wasn't fake at all
