In American culture, why is “virgin” considered an insult?

In my country, in Europe, the only people here that call each other virgins are under 18. No one really attacks someone’s sex life, least of all in a political debate by adults.

Yet all you have to do there is have an opinion that isn’t PC for the left or right and you often get called an incel. Why?

It usually means if someone is still a virgin past the age of 21, they either lack social skills or think sex is dirty.   So, they are going to receive some rebuke if they boast about it.
