Does purified water with electrolytes really help with anything?

Lucozade made their own type of this water for sport.

Electrolytes is just salt.  It can be useful if you are dehydrated particularly if through sweating through exercise or a hot climate.  Electrolytes may or may not be helpful.  Best case they are helpful, worst case they are unhealthy as they count towards soidium content.  Depends on your overall lifestyle.

    Purified water with electrolytes?

So the water has the electrolytes removed and then added back in? That seems needless.

You need electrolytes, yes. But they're abundant in food and tap water. (Though tap water does have a lot of other crap in it too).

Electrolytes are essential for all that bioelectricity going in the body and to regulate the movement of water in tissues. So they're essential yes, but isotonic and electrolyte-rich drinks are a gimmick really (unless you were severely dehydrated). You get everything you need from a balanced diet.
