Do I need to partition my 1TB external SSD?

Update:

in order to backup 2 different iMacs.

    120G-128G capacity SSD is not recommended to partition and SSDs are generally recommended not to partition, in order to avoid wasting of storage.

    Probably not required.  In fact, might even be a waste of an SSD.  However, since it is an EXTERNAL SSD, probably not going to hurt much.  Myself, I would just create two folders and store everything in the folders, one per iMac.

    no need, but if you use ssd your computer will more faster.

    there is a feature in time machine that offers backups of multiple Macs I think

    Not really needed but you may find it easier to use for your purpose if you did.

    Tell us what you are using it for first. Normally, there is no need if the drive is just to store data.
