Why did tv shows in the 60s and 70s say it was nighttime when it was obviously daytime?

I'm not sure what you're referring to.  Maybe you're talking about shooting "day for night".  This is a technique, still used to this day, when they'll film something during the day but try, through various techniques, to try and make it look like it was filmed at night.  Actually filming at night can often be expensive and difficult to do.  So filming day for night can help keep costs and production schedules on track.  Of course, if you do it poorly then it looks bad.

They tried to make it look like it was night time.

Because back then, the cameras used to film them worked very poorly in actual night-like conditions, so they had to use shadow techniques to differentiate shooting at their night style from actual daytime settings.

Because the episodes aired at night.
