A fragile old granny and a massive football linebacker crash into each other. What can you say about the impulses that they both feel while they are colliding?

If granny is driving a mac truck and the football player is riding a bicycle, the bicycle feels a much greater impulse.

theyre probably both feeling pain when theyre colliding

They will both feel the same magnitude of impulse.  The impulses will be in opposite direcions.  Hint: Newton's Third Law.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. At ALL times the forces are equal.  So that impulse = Force * time is also equal for both.

You can also get this from "momentum is conserved" both get equal and opposite momentum. But impulse = change in momentum. so both get equal impulses. A different approach but the same answer.
