Is it a good idea to learn to code and to become a software Developer?

I have a bachelors in International Affairs and a minor in international Business and that hasn't gotten me anywhere, I got accepted into a free coding Boot camp in my city that is free/ funded by the state to boast economic mobility etc; my buddy said that it seems like something that will be out sourced and that Indians or artificial intel will take it over and its a wast of time.

uh, your "buddy" sounds like an idiot.

    how would A.I. write code???

    A.I. IS code!

as for Indians writing code, that is just racist stereotyping.

besides, Indians are only used for phone support.

Rule #1 of choosing friends. Don't choose the people who want to shoot themselves in the foot. Your "buddy's" future is limited. You wrote this question on a computer.

It's better than not getting a job. And software development is the future.

Since you have nothing to do, why not?
