KJV IS PROTESTANT AND ONLY 500 YEARS AT MOST OLD. THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH FORMED THE VERY FIRST BIBLE OVER 1,500 YEARS AGO>>>>>>>

IF YOU WERE TO LOOK INTO IT VERY CAREFULLY, YOU WILL LEARN, THAT THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE ONLY ONE JESUS(GOD INCARNATE) STARTED, IT IS 2000 YEARS OLD ALL THE PROTESTANT CHURCHES ARE AT MOST 500 YEARS OLD. JESUS GAVE HIS CATHOLIC CHURCH THE SEVEN SACRAMENTS OF HIS CHURCH EVEN BEFORE THE BIBLE WAS FIRST FORMED BY HIS CHURCH. NO ONE HAD THE BIBLE BEFORE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH FORMED IT. HIS CHURCH IS A PACKED GOD MAN WITH IT THAT WILL LAST FOREVER. SEE HERE FACTS AND ESPECIALLY THE LINKS, PLEASE READ ALL>>>>>>>>>>>>

JESUS SAID TO PETER, PETER YOU ARE MY ROCK, ON WHICH I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH(UNIVERSAL)(ROMAN CATHOLIC) AND THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT. THE SACRAMENTS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH WERE INTRODUCED BY JESUS HIMSELF(CONFESSION, WHAT SINS YOU FORGIVEN ON EARTH, THEY ARE FORGIVEN) NOW, HOLY COMMUNION(JESUS BROKE BREAD AND SAID THIS IS MY BODY WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU, THEN THE WINE, THIS IS MY BLOOD WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME. AND NOW BAPTISM, WHICH IS THE TRUE BORN AGAIN MEANING, AND THE MEANING THAT GOD IS THE TRINITY. WHEN JESUS SAID YOU MUST BE BAPTIZED WITH WATER, AND IT MUST BE IN THE "NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. IF NOT DONE THIS WAY, IT MUST BE DONE OVER, THIS IS JESUS'S WORDS, NOT MINE.

SO YOU SEE PETER WAS THE FIRST POPE(EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOT USED THE WORD POPE AT THAT TIME) AND JESUS INTRODUCED THE SACRAMENTS OF HIS CHURCH, EVEN BEFORE THE BIBLE WAS FORMED BY HIS ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, NO ONE HAD THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE BEFORE THE CATHOLICS AND THEY WERE THE FIRST CHRISTIANS EVER..

    SEE HERE FACTS>>>

THE ONLY CHURCH STARTED BY JESUS HIMSELF WAS THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH AND THEY ARE THE FIRST CHRISTIANS EVER AND THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT, SEE WHY OTHERS RELIGIONS SPRANG UP AFTERWARDS>>

BUT IF THEY DONT WANT TO LISTEN TO JESUS AND HIS CHURCH, THEN HE WILL NOT INTERFERE WITH YOUR FREE WILL, WHEN JESUS STARTED HIS ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IT WAS ONE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, BUT GOD KNOWING MAN LET THIS HAPPEN AND THATS WHY THERE ARE SO MANY PROTESTANT DENOMINATIONS, >>>

     MARTIN LUTHER A CATHOLIC PRIEST

DECIDED HE DID NOT AGREE WITH ALL THE TEACHINGS AND

BECAME A HERETIC AND WAS EXCOMMUNICATED FROM THE

CATHOLIC CHURCH, HENCE 39,000 PROTESTANT DENOMINATIONS. SEE HERE WHERE ALL CHRISTIANS WERE

CATHOLIC AT FIRST AND ALSO HAVE THE ONLY TRUE BIBLE >>>>>>>

The ONLY Christian church in existence for the first 1,000 years of Christian history was the Roman Catholic Church. All other Christian churches which exist today can trace their linage back to the Roman Catholic Church. Most non-Catholic churches which exist today are less than a century or two old by comparison. ALSO TRUE BIBLE READ>>>

The Catholic Church is entirely responsible for the composition of the Bible, which books are included, as well as the breakup of the chapters and verses. Protestants have removed some books of the Bible because some of the verses were inconsistent with their theology. Martin Luther was a prime offender in this regard, removing Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Wisdom, Sirach and Baruch. He also made an effort to remove James and Revelations, but this was rejected by his followers and those two books were kept. Catholics are often accused of "adding" the books, but despite this common belief, it is false. Older, pre-Protestant, Catholic translations of the Bible include them.

The KJV is a Protestant version, and the poorest translation still in common use, with more than 6,000 translational errors. The translators were simply not expect in the ancient languages, and it shows, on almost every page. Many of the errors are minor - verb tenses, singular vs. plural, etc. But some of them are ridiculous. For example, the KJV is the only translation ever made that mentions unicorns. They translated the Greek phrase for "horned beasts" as "unicorns", instead of the obvious correct translation found in every other version of the Bible - "cattle", or "oxen". And of course, the KJV is missing seven entire books of the original Holy Bible, as all Protestant versions are. Actually, their founder, Martin Luther, fully intended to trash three New Testament books as well, but his own followers were near the point of rebellion over trashing the writings of the Apostles, so he had to back down on that part of his plan.

The KJV is a Protestant Bible that borrows heavily from the Catholic Douay-Rheims English translation. Protestants believe whatever they personally think the Bible says. Catholics believe the truths that have been faithfully preserved and handed down from Jesus and the Apostles.

The King James Bible is 100% perfect.  It is the Bible, it is the Word of God.  Catholic leads to hell because it teaches works for salvation.  Catholic didn't even exist for hundreds of years after the Bible was complete in the 90s AD.  So get completely away from catholicism.  Death leads to heaven or hell.  The Lord Jesus Christ is God, who died on the cross and shed His blood to pay for all of our sins in full, and then Jesus was buried, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead.  Nothing you could do will ever pay for any of your sins.  Jesus already paid for all of our sins with His death on the cross and His shed blood, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead.  So the only way to get into heaven and avoid hell, is by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, without adding any of your own works.  See Romans 4:5.  It is too late for you to be saved, after death.

    1.  Protestant.

    2.  Catholics worship Mary in addition to God.  They believe in a Trinity.  Some Protestants believe in the Trinity.  Others just pretend that Jesus is God.  Both are mistaken.

    3.  Not so much. Just tradition.

Catholics follow the Roman Catholic Church which flatly contradicts the Bible and opposes Jesus Christ and His Gospel. It seeks to replace God and Jesus Christ with itself and employs any deceit to that end. It proves very successful in that.

For hundreds of years it kept the Bible from the people persecuting to death those that sought the Bible and only at the cost of much blood was the Bible made more widely and freely available. Then the power of the RCC greatly declined and now we can see its falsity and its flat contradiction of the Bible in its doctrines and practices.

So the Bible is neither Catholic or Protestant neither its translation, and it follows that  Protestant is a name attached to any that refuses the Roman Catholic Church and its spirit of error and antichrist, even those who also refuse the movement called Protestantism.

Protestants claim to believe and follow the Bible, which sharply distinguishes them from Catholics but Protestantism has its own ways of interpreting the Bible.

The answer is rather to read the Bible for yourself to hear God for yourself and not to be taught by men, because therein is the same error both for Catholics and Protestants.

This vital principle and truth is exemplified in the example of the Jews who teach each other rather than hear God, and are in rebellion from God, their Temple, the centre of their worship destroyed and they themselves exiled and dispersed amongst the Heathen and Pagan nations for some 2000 years suffering the curses warned by Moses for rejecting the Prophet like Moses. In all this they teach each other against that Prophet and refuse to turn to God from the heart.

In short it is nothing to do with the Bible and how it is translated but rather whether any hears God through His word.

The KJV is a Protestant bible.  It has 66 books.  Catholic-approved bibles have 73.

For Catholics, the pope is the earthly head of the church; for Protestants, he's not.  Protestants tend toward sola scriptura.  The CC is not a sola scriptura church.  The CC teaches purgatory, while most, (all?), Protestants reject this teaching.  Catholics believe in transubstantiation, Protestants don't, a possible exception are the Anglicans.  The CC has what is called "sacred tradition."  Protestants reject this also.  The CC teaches that Mary was a virgin her entire life.  Protestants don't believe this.

This is as far as I can safely go.  I think what I've mentioned are generalizations with few exceptions.  Other than these, Protestant beliefs are all over the map.

I just read No Chance's response.  The CC teaches that Mary was sinless.  It also teaches that Jesus was sinless.  Also thanks to No Chance for reminding me about the ability of priests to forgive sins.  The CC says they can and the Protestants say they can't.

    For Paul regarding his comment:

    - the KJV is the only translation ever made that mentions unicorns

    Wyclif's Bible (1395), Isa 34:7

    And vnycornes schulen go doun with hem, and bolis with hem that ben myyti; the lond of hem schal be fillid with blood, and the erthe of hem with ynnere fatnesse of fatte beestis;

    Coverdale's Bible (1535) Isa 34:7

There shal the Vnicornes fall with the Bulles, (that is with the giauntes) and their londe shalbe washed with bloude, & their grounde corrupte with fatnesse.

    Matthew's Bible (1537) Isa 34:7

There shall the Vnycornes fall with the Bulles (that is with the gyauntes) and theyr lande shalbe washed wyth bloude, and their grounde corrupte wyth fatnesse.

The Great Bible (1539) Isa 34:7

There shall the vnicornes fall wt them, and the bulles wt the gyauntes: and their lande shalbe thorowely soaked with bloude, & their grounde corrupt with fatnes.

The Geneva Bible (1560) Isa 34:7

And the vnicorne shall come downe with them and the heiffers with the bulles, and their lande shalbe drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatnesse.

The Bishops Bible (1568) Isa 34:7

There shall the vnicornes fall with them, and the bulles with the giauntes, and their lande shalbe throughly soked with blood, and their grounde corrupt with fatnesse.

    The (Catholic) Douay-Rheims Bible (1610) Isa 34:7

And the vnicornes shal come downe with the, and the bulles with the mightie; their land shal be drunke with bloud, & their ground with the fatnes of fatte ones.

    In answer to your question:

1 - Technically Anglican, which at the time (early 1600s) was certainly Protestant.

2a) What are the differences between what Catholics believe and what Protestants believe?

    That's like asking

    - What are the differences between red delicious apples and all other varieties of apples?

There are literally thousands of Protestant denominations

    and

the only things that ALL Protestants believe as a matter of doctrine

are also things that that Catholics believe as a matter of doctrine.

2b) Do the differences in beliefs arise from the differences in how the Bible is translated?

No. To the contrary: major doctrinal differences that appear when Bible translations are compared are typically the result of doctrinal differences of the translators.

  • Actually the Catholic and Protestant bibles are very similar, KJV tends to appeal to the protestant.  Catholic bibles include an extra set of books called the apocrypha

The big difference is that there is another whole boatload of what Catholics call Sacred Tradition which has nothing to do with the bible, or for that matter Christianity

    It includes

    Instructions to pray to saints

the belief that Mary was the sinless one not Jesus

    Purgatory

    Getting forgiveness from priests

    and on and on
